Stripe Club

The photo doesn’t pick up the color very well, but these platform stilettos from Pour le Victoire are actually a light pink sherbet color with thin black stripes. The height of the platform makes them truly stunning and they work with any color.  Certainly a good choice for New Year's Eve, if you are one of those people can bounce back from a little cocktail splash. If you are a neat freak though, I’d stick to a black shoe on this rowdy night.

Comfy, Cozy, Merry, and Warm

Well Merry Christmas all! Over the last few days I’ve gotten in the habit of doing absolutely nothing so I’ve forgotten to update. So, the snow has been coming down around this area. Yes, it was a good storm, but come on; I grew up in Rochester and went to school in Oswego. This was nothing…like, literally nothing compared to that. However, when I try to tell people this, I always end up sounding like a crotchety elderly person— “When I was your age, I used to march uphill in snow higher than my head, with wind whipping, to get to class.”

The sad thing about this statement is that it’s true—very true. Nonetheless, these cites don’t have the infrastructure to support this much snowfall at once, so it does end up completely debilitating any transportation.

Lucky for me, I’m off work until after the New Year so I’m slipping my feet into these babies. I asked for one present this year from my dear Kenny and that was slippers. We are working on moving, and planning a wedding, and since he gave me the most beautiful diamond ring this year, we weren’t really going big on presents, so I asked for slippers, and he went above and beyond and got me these beautiful Uggs sheepskin slippers for my pretty little feet to rest themselves after a long day in heels.

Or in the case of this week, long days where you don’t have to go outside and put any shoes on at all.

Rosebud

I love these pretty rosy high gloss platform heels from Pour le Victoire. Such a beautiful shade that works well when you would otherwise wear a nude colored heel. Also, these are for spring obviously but I tend to think that these can be worn year round as this mature pink shade would look great with black as well.

It’s overall just a pretty shoe that can be worn morning, noon, and night. It isn’t meant to shock, but just add a touch of femininity to any look.

Shopping and Champagne Do Mix!

Though it sounds like it could be a complete disaster, drinking and shopping do often mix well for me! Though there have been a few mishaps, it usually has to do more with the amount spent than the item selected.

After all, last week a few cocktails landed me with these pair of amazing shoes from Furla. After spending at hour or so at a party with my future mother in law and the High Rise Hostess at La Perla, we ventured down Fifth Avenue to go see Susan at Furla. Between the fantastic discount and the prosecco, we each bought shoes, bags, and accessories. It’s always fun to shop at private events long after the store has closed with a cocktail in hand. This brown animal print bootie is such a great shade of brown with chocolate details that it actually pairs perfectly well with both brown and black. The best part was waking up kind of hazy the next morning, actually forgetting that I had bought them. It was like waking up to Christmas presents left by Santa! I was so excited and put them on and enjoyed my morning coffee in my pajamas with Kathie Lee, and Hoda while wearing these amazing shoes.

Then Kenny reminded me that we had to go meet our wedding officiant. Still a bit hazy (hungover), I quickly showered, threw the shoes back on and I was out the door. Thank god I have a future husband who remembers wedding planning when I forget, and doesn’t mind my love of Champagne and shoes—and never tried to limit my consumption of either.

Sole Scents

How fun is this!? It’s looks like a stiletto but it’s actually a new perfume from Nicole Amy Fragrances. The heel comes off to reveal the sprayer, and the scent is a musky undertone with hints of vanilla bean and sandalwood. I love the gold tone studs on the black heel and how the shoe bottle comes in a delicately wrapped in a velvet black box. These studded pumps are definitely not for the back of your closet but to put on display for your girlfriends. You’ll want to wear this scent like you wear your favorite pair.

Sneaker Glam

Good morning! It’s freezing out there so I’ve reduced myself to a sweater dress. Not a look that I love but today is all about survival, in so many ways. Good thing is that my Rachel Zoe fur head wrap arrived last night just in time for these brisk temperatures.
I went to the Target Spring press preview this morning. It’s always fun to see which designers they have coming in for the new collections, and to check out the cheap stuff for those bum around clothes and shoes that you always need. I love the shiny black Converse sneaks! I wish they were out right now because I am in desperate need something without a heel on it, but I’ll have to wait until March. The mini black sequins sewn on in opposite directions create a cute checker pattern and with these my jeans and white t-shirt outfits will look a lot more fun. The pair is photographed below with some other things coming out at Target this Spring, I’m liking that blue bag a lot.

Clog Revival

If you like clogs, you are in for a treat this spring. Clogs of all shapes, sizes and price points will be the shoe of the season, which will fit right along with the revival of the ’70s look—think, bellbottoms, flowing skirts, and lacy shirts.

Now, I love me some ‘70s, don’t get me wrong, but I’m more into the Studio 54 late night glam ’70s than the flower child, earth tone look, but I like the shiny stud details on the heel of this Jean-Michel Cazabat pair.

Just Like Heaven

If this picture makes you think that I’m reporting live from heaven, I’m not. I’m still alive and kicking. This is just SAKS shoe floor, silly! GO THERE NOW. There are TONS of sales on Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, Giuseppe Zanotti, Prada, Gucci, Miu Miu, basically everything. The sales aren’t as good as sample sale prices, but if you’re prepared to drop a few hundred on a style that’s still fresh for winter then get there immediately.

Best of all, everything is divided into sizes and it’s hands on so no waiting for the salesperson to check and see if they have your size, just walk right up and try them on. I was there this morning and just cuddled up on the couch and looked at all the shoes from afar. My feet were killing me from a really intense morning full of a lot of walking so I needed to relax and go through some emails. I think I even dozed off. I never sleep but for some reason just being around all of these shoes made me feel comfy and snuggly and secure. As if I knew that all these pairs were safe on this huge floor, and that the women that were buying them were going to take great care of them. It was heavenly—it was divine.

Missoni Gone Mad

Well, this is just all sorts of crazy. Beyond the Missoni fabric being used on shoe, I think it’s that chuck of a red heel that makes them ridiculous to me. Though, I shouldn’t expect much seeing that this comes from the same collection as the company’s “Coochie” necklace.

However, I can’t say I wouldn’t wear them. I’m imagining a plain-colored jersey sundress and an outdoor event where I’d tie those longer straps around my calves and rock them. I mean, they are very, very noticeable Missoni so some fashion lovers will appreciate them, as will Italians.

Red Wedgie

A red Louboutin is irresistible no matter what form it comes in—and this time it’s a super high wedge. If you happen to be going to warmer climates for the holidays, this is the perfect little red accessory to bring along with you. If not, I say that all the fashion rules go out the window over the holidays so eat a lot, drink a lot and wear peep toes and wedges in the cold!

The red sole is like a hidden little surprise on this pair because it lies flat so not everyone can see it. So don’t be afraid to cross your legs and let everyone have a peek at the bottom—and your bottom if your saucy little Christmas dress is a bit shorter than usual.

It's Bananas!

As we head into the dark doldrums of winter, I am surrounded by shoes and clothes from spring. These yellow pieces of wonder from Prada are incredibly crazy and eye catching. Can’t promise you that they are going to hold up if you are planning to do any serious walking, or be in a crowded room, but for a more low key evening, you should be able to keep these dangling beads and crystals in tact. Eat your heart out Big Bird.

December Rain

Despite the torrential downpour, I couldn’t bear to wear rain boots today. They are heavy and make my leg circumference look smaller than it already is. Kind of the reason why I don’t like UGGS. Yes, I understand that UGGS are comfy and people think they are cute, but they are not sexy—and when you are starting off your day at a lunch with a bunch of classic French men, one of whom is Chef Daniel Boulud, you wear heels—and you wear stockings, preferably with the crease up the back. And you wear nice lingerie even though he will never see it…just because he is THAT French that you know he will just be able to tell.

I’m not saying that you always have to look sexy in life, but you do have to show that you take care of yourself. And quite frankly with the French, you have to be aesthetically pleasing. The fact that you are an American already puts you at a disadvantage; you have to win them back by wearing Chanel and drinking a lot of wine at lunch and acting like it’s having absolutely no affect on you.

So it’s not that I mind that my feet get wet, it’s that I forgot that New York is not actually all that flat, and when it comes to crossing the streets those curbs and gutters get pretty deep with water on a day like today. Don’t worry, I didn’t allow my skin to touch the actual run off, but I did have to walk many blocks out of the way to find a street that was elevated enough to cross so that by red shoes (in honor of World AIDS Day) didn't get wet—all while narrowly missing the cars trying to splash me on Park Avenue. I could have sat with Daniel all day long…he actually said very matter of factly to me, “I am the best French chef in America.” I agreed, naturally…as the waiter poured me more water and wine.

Oh, The Horror

I involuntarily shuddered when I first saw this sock/sandal travesty. Usually when Kyle Mammarella sends me something it has to do with housewife trivia, Dolly Parton, or an old Senor Frog’s memory—but the fitness buff (he runs a mean marathon) sent me this mess collaboration with Grey Ant. Maybe he was researching what to wear in Nene’s next high heel race. The race essentially taught battered women to run away from abusive men in while wearing heels. This is a separate discussion all in itself.

Of course the photo above may cause you to question the world in which we live, not just because of the socks—those are just an added bonus. However, may I ask you to look at the photo below: If I HAD to do yard work, maybe this wouldn’t be the worst choice. I mean, first off you wouldn’t give a shit if you got these things muddy, but also that heel might just dig deep and give you more stability than a flat shoe would. Just call me the eternal optimist for finding a light at the end of this Teva travesty tunnel.

Taking a Tumble

I think I merely escaped a broken ankle today both caused by and due to the striped pony hair Manolo boots. They are a bit too high for me but I wear them anyway. I just didn’t expect the rain today so they got a little bit wet but thankfully there are no water stains. The rain however, didn’t quite cause the fall.

I actually don’t know how it happened. I just know one second I was at my desk saying goodbye the Genevieve from Factory PR who came to show me the new t-shirt line from Bambu, and the next minute my heel got caught on the back of my chair and I suffered a great tumble, in front of about six people. Like, a full to the ground fall where I couldn’t even catch myself. However, the boots are quite thick so when I think I could have completely rolled my ankle they actually acted as a brace and kept the bone from cracking. Fashion is dangerous—recall when dropping the September VOGUE cause a broken toe? I do.

Anyhow, we are between seasons now as far as what we are shooting in the office so sadly I haven’t had any new shoes to play with. I can hear the fashion assistants calling in some Spring looks in the distance though so I expect by later this week I will have some new toys. In the meantime, this is the new Louis Vuitton ad that I am OBSESSED with. Saw it first in Miami in the new Ocean Drive and I think that these boots were made for me. They are at the top of my Christmas list, just in case I’ve been a good girl this year.

Stuff It!

This Christmas stocking made me squeal with holiday joy! If there was anything that blasted me into the Christmas spirit, it was this stocking, compliments of Grandma Marie Horan. I now have a stiletto stocking to hang over my mantle—ok, we don’t have a mantle but we DO have a multi-colored fiber optic Christmas tree that we decorate with disco ball ornaments so it’s proped up against that right now. While most people run out to get a gigantic real pine tree for their homes, Kenny and I actually find great joy in this psychedelic light show and both agree that we are keeping it forever.

This pointy toe stiletto is just the best Christmas decoration I’ve ever seen and I am now fully prepared to Deck the Halls, Jingle Bells, and Wish You a Merry Christmas all month long!

I LOVE Emily!

I think Emily loved shoes before I did. She is the first person I ever shopped with at Prada and watched pay retail for an amazing pair of shoes that are still one of the most fantastic pairs I’ve ever seen. Since then I’ve watched her buy more Prada shoes, and Prada bags, and many in other fabulous brands as well.

The last time we were in Las Vegas she made a spur of the moment purchase of Georgina Goodman hot pink and black platform sandals. Not everyone makes an expensive, spontaneous, hot pink purchase at night on the way to the club—but she is fabulously impulsive when it comes to shoe shopping and that is one of the many reasons we love her. Today she showed me this pair of LOVE shoes by the same designer as the Vegas pair. I love a shoe that actually spells a word, and how fun are the sparkles and the striped bottom on the sole? They are so lovable and make me happy! Perhaps when we go to Vegas for my bachelorette party this year we can go to the same store and she can pick them up (it was right outside of the entrance of the XS club at the Wynn Encore if anyone’s in the area and wants to buy them up for her.) LOVE!

Larkin’s Louboutins

Look at these! These were the fabulous find by my girl Lauren Larkin who went to the Christian Louboutin sale! She got there at 7 a.m. and STILL had to wait three hours! But I’d say that getting these light grey suede sky-high booties at a very reduced price was WAY worth it! Best part about these is that she can wear them now, and into the spring, but if she wants to dye them and change up the color for next fall, it will be like a brand new pair of shoes all over again! Well done, my dear! I love a tall gal in tall shoes! When I get back I’ll wear my highest shoes and we’ll go out together and see what happens (hopefully no one falls).

I’m back to being rested after a relaxing day at the Mandarin Oriental in Brickell Key yesterday. Had some great wines and an amazing dinner at Azul, and during the day did a lot of writing and blogging and editing. Hitting a yoga class this morning, which I’m following up with a Thai Compress Herbal Ritual at the spa which is supposed to use oils and herbs to release all sorts of muscle tension. The arches of my feel need some serious attention.

Clearly Delirious

Where am I? What time is it? Is it 10 a.m. or 10 p.m.? Overall, I’m not really sure. Sorry for my lack of Shoe of the Day posts, but Monday evening I flew to Spain for the Mango runway show, and did a lot of press interviews for it and honestly never once was near a computer. I also never changed my shoes and my Fendi boots that I’ve showed you before held up well on the way there (through security…yes I required the hand of a fine young TSA gentleman to steady my balance). They took me from daytime Mango business wear right into the evening with my new Mango dress, walking around the city, for a nice lunch, to the runway show and all through the night to the party where Madonna’s boy toy Jesus Luz DJ’ed. The shoes on the Mango runway show were full of color though and I’m excited for them to go on sale this spring. I put a few runway shots below.

So here I am now in Miami with these Lucite and silver beauties. I have a TON of work to get done for CITY (next issue is being shipped on Tuesday) and I thought of no better place to write, edit, and work from the beach. I’m staying at the Mandarin Oriental for the property’s 10th anniversary party on Friday night, but other than the event, my schedule is light and I will be working in the sun, getting a tan, and enjoying a few cocktails. And while I do so, I will be wearing these adorable heels—another buy from the Stuart Weitzman sample sale a few weeks ago. I thought that I’d have to wait until summer to wear them, but Miami style and weather is like summer year-round so I brought them on the trip with me. Other than these, I hope my footwear is limited to spa flip-flops and hotel slippers for the weekend.

Walk a mile in Kari Keohane's shoes...

Below is a post from my dear friend Kari's blog, http://thisbird.tumblr.com.

My good friend Renee just started a blog about the Shoe of The Day. It’s amazing! You should probably read it if you have the same love of shoes as she does. She is an amazing writer and also super fashionable. Why she is friends with my bum self is still a mystery. Probably my bubbly upbeat personality. Anyway back to shoes. Maybe she can do a special shoe post for me about my kinda shoe of the day:
My total lack of fashion sense living in one of the fashion capitals came to fruition this past weekend when on a bachelorette party weekend in Atlantic City. Yup, we took a stretch limo to a club. A club? Yes, a club. Chucks are NOT acceptable attire at clubs. Needless to say, my clubbing outfit was amazing and went well with me sitting outside the club on the deck most of the night due to fear of having a strobe light induced seizure.

Regularly Reflective

This is all I’ve got today, kids. A pair of navy blue KEDS propped up on my desk. Someone decided to be a hero last night at the Village Pourhouse Opening in Hoboken and do shots of Vision Vodka, which is likely the worse vodka on earth. I’m actually quite impressed that I was even able to make it to work. I was so excited to wear the new Manolo boots out that I had to celebrate them.

Today is actually the three-year anniversary of me leaving work at R. Couri Hay’s crazytown office and about to begin my new job at CITY. Couri was quite possibly the most difficult person to work for…yet however many tears I may have shed at that office and however many nights I went without sleep because I had to go right from an event to the office, it resulted in some of the most amazing friends I have. I can’t believe it’s been three years since we all worked together. But I’m happy to say that we all see each other all the time and talk daily and that makes me happy.

So no good shoes to show you today…just a regular Friday in regular clothes will be spent tying up some loose ends at work before leaving for Madrid on Monday for the MANGO runway show. Actually wait...a few awesome pairs just arrived on my desk. My ankles are sore so I'm not going to wear them, just look at them...These are from DKNY...kind of a cross between a black leather pump and a boot with lace detail. Ok...I can't resist...I'm putting these on...

Manolo Catharsis

I laughed. I cried. There was anger and fear. I made it through the Manolo Blahnik sample sale and it wasn’t without pain. One broken camera (the reason for the horrible photo today), a pair of ripped stockings, and a sore ankle later I emerged with the most beautiful pair of light brown pony hair/dark leather brown boots I have ever seen. They fit my legs, the have a beautifully skinny and high heel and side clasps, and the look amazing both with a skirt and over jeans. Mr. Andre Leon Talley himself lent me a hand as I slipped my foot into the boot and explained, “Ohhh you MUST buy those.” It was kind of like God showing me the way, if God were a large black bitchy, yet, fashionable man. It was a cash-only sale and I didn’t exactly plan on finding pony hair boots when I entered so I had to convince a really cute sales girl to hide them for me as I sprinted across Seventh Avenue to go back to the ATM. (I expect CHASE to be calling me any minute now letting me know that someone has stolen my ATM card and is withdrawling large sums of money from different ATM’s around the city. If they don’t call me, then I’m going to call them and tell them that they really need to provide better security.

Still, as I know that the retail price of these is in the thousands, I’m pretty sure I saved no less than 80 percents off the original cost…but I have no idea how to do percentages and only passed math in college because my teacher was old and I was nice to him…and I may or may not have cried to him after the final and BEGGED for a C-minus.

It was a hectic morning, and I am sore, hungry, and exhausted. But it was worth it, and I look forward to the next one. After the sale I visited fashion designer Christian Siriano in his studio where he screamed over the boots. I knew my decision was a good one.

Next week is the Louboutin sale and will be in Madrid so I have nominated my dearest Lauren Larkin to go in my place and report back to me. I wish her luck, health, safety, and heels.

Toe Pick

It’s rare that I go anywhere else in Manhattan but Soho anymore. It’s where my office is, where I meet up with friends, where I shop…everything. But once in a while you have to go explore other areas in the city and as most city-dwellers know, you are always pleasantly surprised. Despite the cooler weather I hadn’t realized that the holiday season is nearly upon us until I walked through Bryant Park today. To my delight and surprise I saw that the ice rink was up and some early birds were toe-looping and triple axeling and skating away! I was so happy I stopped to take some photos and although I didn’t get any up-close shots of ice skates, I thought that a perfect Shoe of The Day would be this silhouette of a skate that provides the artwork surrounding the rink this season. I had never skated in the city until last year for my fabulous friend Olivia’s birthday. I am still so happy that she decided to have a skating party because it was a reason to go and was such a lovely time!

Shoe Wars!

There’s nothing quite like the rush of a shoe sample sale. And thanks to the fact that media often gets treated like gold in NYC, I get the pleasure of getting a lot of invites to explore the sales before everyone else. Today was Stuart Weitzman, who I think is hit or miss on a lot of his styles— but you can’t go wrong when pairs are going for $40 a pop. This morning I ventured to the company’s corporate offices on 57th St. and picked up this pair of red and pink snakeskin platforms. Who doesn’t’ need a pair of colorful snakeskin shoes? No one I am friends with. I also snatched up a pair of silver and Lucite heels but we’ll want for summer before bringing those out.

Luckily the sale wasn’t too crowded when I went in so I was able to gently sift through the size nines with ease. Some precautions I take before heading into a sale is to be sure to wear flats that you can easily slip on and off so you can try on the maximum amount of pairs as quickly a possible. Don’t have a lot of things with you since these sales often take place in close quarters, and most of all, always be sure to bring checks, cash, and credit cards because the sales are often very limited in what kind of payment they will take.

So Stuart was a success! I was actually surprised that they were only $40 a pair. Most often the Louboutin,  Choo and Manolo Sales are still charging about $200 (but still a steal relatively). These shoes will come in just perfectly as the holidays approach because nothing dresses up an old black dress like a red festive pair of sky high pumps.

Tom Cat

TOMS Shoes—the loving brand that gives one pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair they sell— unveiled their spring collection of canvas wears yesterday. I met with the company's creator and designer Blake Mycoskie in the afternoon and he told me all about the new line that was inspired but the life of Dan Eldon, a young man who was a Reuter's photographer who was tragically killed a few years ago in Africa. Eldon kept journals and took amazing photos of the African landscape and after he passed his parents published a book of his adventures. Blake came across the book in a store and contacted his family, who were happy to grant Mycoskie permission to use his travels and life as inspiration for the new collection. My particular favorites were these pair of darling elephants, which are as meaningful as they are cute. For those less daring with their footwear, some safari inspired prints on both the boot cut and TOMS Classics look go a long way too.

Sweet Tooth

Always happy to be back in NYC! The highlight of my day was visiting my dear Susan Rutenberg who heads up the PR department at Furla. Over the past few months she has really helped introduce me to the brand, and the luxury details and color combinations on their leather bags have blown me away. For spring, the company is going wild with florescent bags its candy collection, which are as adorable as they are edgy. Not to brag, but I had quite the collection of jelly shoes when I was a young girl, and the shoes that are a part of this collection really remind me of those—though they are not made of plastic and are way more luxe. Look how fun! Already so excited for spring...
Below are a few more pairs from the Candy collection. Looking at these makes me want to finish up this leftover Halloween candy right away!

Party Pumps

Were all been there—you finally debut your new Choo’s on a fun night out, and some over served fool spills a drink on the shoes that you spent your entire paycheck on. But as much as you want to freak out, you remember that these things happen, that it was likely an accident, and that gravity always wins. If you want to rock out in some hot shoes on a night where you know the club is going to be crowded, try out this inexpensive line Costa Blanca, which has colors to really dress up that little black dress. I saw these at the Red Light PR press preview last week and snapped a quick picture. Hoping to borrow a pair from them soon. Especially these pink ones. Save the Louboutins for New Years, cocktails parties and high priced ticket gala where the crowd is more aware of luxury shows, and bring these out for 1Oak on a Thursday.

On The Fringe

I’m really not a fan of brown leather fringe—or any fringe for that matter. But being out west for nearly a week now, I’m kind of getting into that laid back cowboys and Indians vide. Usually it’s just not a trend that I really embrace whether it’s on shoes, bags or jackets. I think it’s too many years of dressing up for Halloween as Pocahontas which makes it feel too costume-y to me. However, these American Eagle fringe sandals aren’t that bad. If I’m going to try out these tassels on my toes they at better at least be low priced jut in case they only get a few wears. Cute for some summer days, or an outdoor festival, or chasing a tumbleweed in the wild, wild west…

My First Heels!

Look at this beautiful girl! She and I are best friends, and I bought her her first pair of high heels that she is modeling here. My niece Aspen seems to already be displaying the long, long legs that us Lucas girls like to flaunt. Today we are headed off to the pool to watch her brother Jack play in the water. Of course I will have her wear the heels to the pool, and hopefully a big sun hat and a fabulous pair of sunglasses.

Pink Ladies

Hanging out with my baby girl niece Aspen and her brother Jack today! I think it’s Pumpkin Carving Day! I’ve learned just in the past 24 hours that it’s tough to take care of babies in stilettos. These new pale pink sneakers and slip-ons that American Eagle will release this spring will be the perfect way for my pretty little sister Andrea to look sweet, savvy, and be able to chase her little kids around all day. Paired with jeans, shorts, or even a sporty skirt, American Eagle will do a good job this spring bringing back comfy fabrics in popping colors.

Baby Blues

I think that it was Tom Ford who said something along the lines of never seeing worse fashion than that of Americas in airports. Though I totally agree with him, I can’t quite say I haven’t contributed to these fashion flaws in the past.
For me, it used to be all about comfort, but with the inspiration from my fiancĂ© Kenny, I’ve taken to dressing up and looking nice when I fly. He’s always in a perfect sports coat and pants so I have to hold my own next to him and a pair of leggings just isn’t going to do it. Although I don’t recommend these shoes when you are running from gate to gate, if you have a direct flight and aren’t traveling with too many bags, these bright blue baby’s by Costa Blanca certainly make a statement—and for those times when you need to budge someone in the security line, a pair of flashy heels and a bat of the eyelashes and usually does the trick.

Rain Rain, Go Away

Although I do have a very fantastic pair of Marc Jacobs rain boots, I avoid wearing them unless it’s really a monsoon or there is at least a foot of snow. No one’s foot looks glamorous in a big old boot (which is always why I am not a fan of Uggs). Still, on these rainy days I at least try to fit the mood of the day –today with these gray suede double platforms by Boutique 9. They have a good bottom grip so there’s no chance of slipping, and the color pretty matches anything you wear. Don’t be afraid to wear a nerdy raincoat as long as you have these on your feet.
I’m off to Arizona tomorrow to see my sister and brother –in-law and their two little babies, Jack and Aspen! I’ll likely be posting some sandals and flip-flops as I leave behind these New York gray days and bask in the sun.

You Betta WORK!

These are ambitious for a Monday morning, but it’s back to the office for me, so bring on the Rupaul on Pandora and these shoes to match. There are two ways to approach the new week: tired, cranky and miserable—or walking to your office in strappy patent leather stilettos with a huge triple espresso, a shot of Eboost, and a lot of chocolate for breakfast. That’s the way I’m going today and these Marc Fisher heels are about as Dominatrix as you can get before noon without someone thinking you are walk of shaming it on a Monday morning. For those who are walk of shaming it on a Monday—I’m jealous, and proud.

Get High

I was told yesterday by the woman at Kleinfeld’s Bridal that I would have to limit my heel height to less than three inches on my wedding day—unless I wanted to have my dress lengthened, and that costs a pretty penny. She might as well have told me I had three months to live.
‘Till then, I’m rockin’ ‘em high. It’s Friday and I’ve had a long week so a cocktail is order! I’m meeting Chris and Larkin at Mercbar after work and I know they will appreciate these babies! Silver and pewter strappy platforms from GUESS that will look just as good by (on) the bar as they will on the dance floor.

Fendi Fever

I’ve been dying to break these out and today seemed like the perfect day. I bring you the most exciting part about my fall wardrobe this year, a pair of black leather boots from Fendi. I’ve struggled for years to find boots that hug my legs in just the right way, with just the right heel height that makes them comfortable to wear all day and transition into night. I usually take the shoes off when I take a photo of them, but these fit like a glove so taking them on and off is actually quite a process. I plan on wearing these boots all fall and winter so now the only thing left to do is go out a buy a ton of dresses so I can show them off all year.

Workin' Girl

Today was one heck of a day. I produced a fashion photo shoot at the Gansevoort Park Avenue that went amazingly thanks only to my fantastic photographer and stylist friends. Everyone worked together so well and the outcome was a gorgeous model in stunning lingerie. After that I zipped to the office to write two feature stories and edit a freelance project. But don't think that I'm complaining...I know very well that I am incredibly lucky to work in a creative industry when so many qualified people are out of work.
To be honest, most of my day was spent in a pair of old silver sneakers from Diesel. I'm the first to admit that when you have a day where you have to hustle, the highest of heels really do slow you down. But alas, when I finally was able to sit down at my desk, I kicked off the sneaks threw on this pair of Enzo Angiolini black patent leather peep toe pumps. Since I was tied to my desk for about six hours, I can't say I walked too far in them, but I'd like to on a less busy day.

Step On It

It's raining...it's cool. But not quite winter weather yet so I think there's still time to squeeze in a last peep toe. This black leather lace-up boot gives your foot the protection it needs from fierce temperatures, but the little peep is super playful. Since I had such a good time at Vera Wang yesterday, I thought two days in a row with her Simply Vera line was a true testament to how much I liked her affordable collection. Also, I'm about to go test drive Audi's new 2011 A8 for the weekend in Connecticut. Although I'm sure driving in heels this high is likely dangerous, I can't exactly sacrifice style when in a car this new and amazing. Watch out road, these boots were made for drivin'!

Simply Vera

I went to Vera Wang's studio and showroom this morning to chat with the designer and see what she has going on with the lower priced line she's doing for Kohls. I know, I know...I should be looking for a wedding dress—but looking for something I am not going to wear for another year is difficult for me to wrap my head around. My usual method of shopping is having things messengered to me, or picking out something to wear that evening and leaving the store with it on, so with no immediacy to it, I chose to focus on everyday accessories. Everyone knows I'm a sucker for a blue shoe, and with the right amount of texture and shine, these are going to have fun on my feet...and I'm going to have more fun looking down at them.

Viva Chile!

Horray! After more than two months the Chilean miners are being rescued and reunited with their families! Great news, and no better time to pay homage to Chile's most recognized shoe designer Arturo Chiang. He's gone on two create his own line, but is known best for the 20 years he spent with Nine West creating sexy, stylish, and affordable shoes for all women. This pair of neutral boots comes fro Nine West's Boutique 9 collection and is the perfect way to add some flair to an autumn colored wardrobe. The woven leather adds texture to any outfit and the peeptoe adds just enough skin.
